Aerva media players are configured by default to restart the Aerva software nightly on their own.  No action is required on your part.  The restart happens between 3am and 4am local time.

There are two reasons why the software restarts every night:

  • As with all computers, restarting software or rebooting regularly is a good idea.  This helps clear out temporary files and cached memory that may build up on the system over time and might degrade performance.  It's particularly helpful for digital signage devices as they often run content 24/7 in public locations.
  • For our customers that use WiFi bridges or cellular modems, intermittent connection issues based on reception or cellular network health can sometimes cause devices to drop offline.  The restart allows the Aerva media player to reinitialize its network connection.

It is possible to set a specific time for a daily reboot.  This can be done with the "Schedule Daily Player Reboot" option found in the media player's config menu.  Please see the Aerva Player Setup Guide for information on accessing and using the player's config menu.
